About Thomas X. Nguyen, M.D.

Dr. Nguyen went to UC Davis where he majored in Exercise Biology. Interested in sports, anatomy, and surgery, he decided to pursue Orthopaedic Surgery during his early years of medical school at Howard University. He completed his General Surgery internship at Charleston Area Medical Center/West Virginia University 2015 followed by Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Howard University Hospital 2020. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Detroit Medical Center 2021. He completed a 6-month clinical experience and surgical observership  at the Orthopaedic Trauma & Fracture Specialists in San Diego in 2023 followed by an adult total joint reconstruction at the Nano Clinic in 2024. 

 

 

His surgical interests are shoulder,  knee, and hip arthroscopy. He is also very interested in total shoulder, knee and hip arthroplasty. Sports cases that he prefers are ACL reconstruction, meniscus repairs, arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs, shoulder instability, patellofemoral instability, knee cartilage restoration, biceps tendon repairs, hamstring repairs, ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, and acromioclavicular joint reconstruction. He also enjoys managing fracture care and general Orthopaedics. He has surgical privileges at Chapman Global Medical Center in Orange, CA; Foothill Surgical Institute in Lake Forest, CA; and Cerritos Surgery Center in Cerritos, CA

He has provided sports team coverage for high school football, junior college football, minor league baseball and professional soccer. He has published peer reviewed articles and a book chapter. He enjoys research to enhance the field of Orthopaedics. 

 

 

Dr. Nguyen is a Qualified Medical Evaluator for worker’s compensation injuries in California. 

 

 

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society, California Orthopaedic Association, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and American Medical Association. His hobbies are basketball, tennis, surfing, fishing, and playing the piano.
