Dr. Nguyen went to UC Davis where he majored in Exercise Biology. Interested in sports, anatomy, and surgery, he decided to pursue Orthopaedic Surgery during his early years of medical school at Howard University. He completed his General Surgery internship at Charleston Area Medical Center/West Virginia University 2015 followed by Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Howard University Hospital 2020. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Detroit Medical Center 2021. He a completed a 6-month clinical experience and surgical observership  at the Orthopaedic Trauma & Fracture Specialists in San Diego in 2023 followed by an adult total joint reconstruction at the Nano Clinic in 2024.
